CUGrid and Greeting from CUHK

CUGrid and Greeting from CUHK

Hi all,

Greetings from CUHK, HK, and we have implemented and used the Grid technologies for some times now.

We have solved a few research problems by deploying the Grid technologies, notably the use of the MM5 (from NCAR) for a South China Region Air pollution Study and Simulation project and the deployment of and the parallelization of a Next Generation Sequencing tool from the Solexa for a medical research project.

We now have a general purpose grid (CUGrid), around 200 nodes (dual and quad core) and are now building another one for specific usages and applications, something like WRF HD forecasting and simulation, Grid Based GIS and Remote Sensing, 3D rendering with SAGE etc.

The new one would integrate PVFS2 and Lustre file services, in an attempt to remove the performance problem associated with the NFS.

Looking forward to working with you guys for potential collaborations, to learn from and to share with you our experiences.

Best Rgds,
Sammy Tang, ITSC, CUHK.

Thanks for sharing such a great information about the Grid Computing Conference. I am very much interested in the Grid Computing. I have also participated in the One of the world's largest and Virtual conference on Cloud Computing. Cloud slam 2010 is the event covering latest trends and innovations, Technologies of the Cloud computing. I found the complete information about the Cloud computing Conference 2010 through Cloudslam Conference 2010. The above information about the Grid computing is very much helpful for the people interested in the Cloud computing.
